“I really miss my friends,” says Dakota Shaffer, a seventh grader at TMS who moved to Florida in January.  For anyone who has to move it can be very difficult and a lot of hard work.

In the moving process you not only have to find a house but also a school.  Then the actual moving begins which means packing and saying good-bye to friends. A lot of pressure comes upon new kids when they arrive at a new place, most of this pressure happens at school.

School can be rough on some kids to begin with.  When someone is new at a school they are usually very nervous.  The pressure to fit in is very strong for most with having to learn the way around school, remember the teachers' names, and make new friends.

Luckily for Justin Harvey, another seventh grader at TMS, he knew most of the students when he moved.  Harvey had previously lived in the local area of Tavares but moved down south to Merritt Island.

In January, Harvey moved back, so it was a very easy transformation for him.

Like Shaffer, Jacob Pettigrew had never been to TMS.  “The school is organized differently,” Pettigrew commented while comparing TMS to his old school.  He moved from New Hampshire in March and says he does enjoy this school.

Luckily Harvey, Shaffer, and Pettigrew had no trouble fitting in; they all said they felt very welcomed to the school.  In the end, moving was not all that bad.
