The average student probably gets home, takes out their homework and turns on the television.  According to one study, most kids watch up to or at least two to four hours of TV a day.  As 7th grader Shelby Johnson puts it, “I watch TV when I’m bored.”

The television has been around since 1926.  It was invented by a lot of different people who all contributed to the TV as we know it today.  But back in the 20s when TVs were brand new, the picture was black and white and the screen was really small.  Since then, the TV has definitely changed.  Today we have 64-inch plasma screens with (HD) high-definition.

Another 7th grade student, Tara Vittoria states, “It depends on what kind of mood I’m in,” regarding what she watches on TV.  Kids now-a-days watch all sorts of different things.  That's what makes the TV so amazing, you can watch anything you want.  There are cartoons, dramas, and news channels, or shows about style and celebrities, not to mention sports and movies.  Whatever you can think of--it has its own show.

There are some kids that barely ever watch TV.  There are a lot of reasons why they do not, such as, from their parents not letting them, or not even liking it.

The television is probably one of the most used electronics in the United States.  The television will always keep improving so be prepared to see holographic TV screens or something crazy like that.  So if you watch TV 24/7 or think it’s a waste of time the television is an extremely cool invention.  Just make sure you do your homework.
