“Tavares Middle School’s brand new softball team will keep all the players who come [and tryout] and turn in the permission forms,” said softball coach Pauline Blount, who also is a P.E. instructor at TMS.  “It’s going to be a combination between fast pitch and slow pitch."

Blount is not the only coach for this team; she will have help from a volunteer parent.  “The team will play at least twenty five hours of softball” stated Blount, who plans to teach the basics of the sport.  “I’m very excited, [because] I’ve never had this many kids wanting to play softball.”

Brianna Berry, a seventh grader at Tavares Middle School, decided to tryout for the team because she enjoys being active.  “I decided to play [softball] because it’s my favorite sport,” she said.

Berry doesn’t know how Coach Blount's style but she has a very strong feeling she will be a great coach. "Softball is fun and a great sport,” said Berry.
